2002 Ducati 998, approx. 20,000 miles.
I purchased this bike in 2013 at roughly 16,000 miles. Runs like a champ. Full service history since I acquired it. I have maintained this machine religiously (oil service every 2,000 miles, fuel filter replacements, valves, belts, fuel injection setup, chain service, etc.).
During my ownership, I've performed the following upgrades:
-Ducati 998R cams, degreed to corse spec
-Termignoni full 54mm exhaust
-Ducati race ECU
-Power Commander 3 USB, mapped
-Speedymoto billet water pump cover
-Billet crankcase breather
-Headlight switch for easier starting
-LED tail light with integrated turn signals
-Brass fuel quick disconnects
Significant recent maintenance:
-Fork seals at 17,258 mi
-Valve adjustment and rocker inspection at 17,777 mi
-Cam position sensor at 18,017 mi
-New timing belts, spark plugs and full oil service at 19,635 mi
-Barometric pressure sensor at 19,715 mi
Included with the sale--contingent upon sale price--will be the following parts that I intended to use to build up the motor:
-Ducati 999S deep sump cases
-Ducati 999s heads
-Termignoni 57mm full exhaust, including race ECU
-Pistal 102mm high compression piston set, complete
-UNI high flow air filter set
-The bike will come with the numerous spares--and removed OEM parts--that I've accumulated over the years. Outside of those, I may be willing to let go of my Ducati tools, for the right price. I have virtually all of the special tools that a home mechanic would need to maintain one of these machines (including the no-longer-available VDST diagnostic software), as well as a full compliment of Ducati valve shims. Again, if there is an interest in this kit, a fair price would have to be negotiated.
There are a few notable issues with the bike as it sits:
-Will probably need a new chain and sprockets sometime in the near future
-There are a few cosmetic blemishes on the bodywork of which I have taken detailed pictures. Nothing out of the ordinary for a bike with 20k on it
Video of cold start:
I hadn't planned on selling this bike, but at this point in my life, I just never ride it, hence the sale. I ride maybe once every 3 months, and the rest of the time it just sits in my garage on a battery tender. As you can see in the video, it fires right up--prior to said start up, it hadn't been run in over 2 months. But I think the time has come for me to let someone else enjoy it. Clean California title in-hand. Asking $8000 OBO including the performance parts but not the tools. No test rides without full asking price, cash, in my hand. Please don't hesitate to message me with any questions. Email me with a phone number and I will get back to you asap--got to weed out the flakes. Thanks!
